TO THE CORRIENTE RIVER

INCLUDED*

After a good breakfast, we`ll cross fields with immense lagoons full of pink flamingoes and carpinchos (or capibaras), passing by an old cemetery dating back to 1850 and following on through the native forest until we reach a rural school. We will cross the provincial gravel highway and continue along the farm road until we reach the river.

On arriving, we can fish from the river banks or walk along the sandy river beaches to observe the abundant vegetation or do some bird watching.

For lunch: Lamb done on the cross (BBQ) or “carrero stew”, and then a siesta (nap) using the furs of our calchas (saddles in Corrientes).

We will then return through a natural forest and an old rice field, and also see where the buffalo pasture.

During the longer summer days, sunset can be seen - to then return at full gallop in time for a glass of wine and some chipas (local – freshly baked corn flour & cheese balls) while the asado (bbq) is prepared.

Tips: Take a cap or hat, dark sun glasses, lip and sun block. Trousers or native country trousers (bombachas de campo). In summer, a swim suit. Camera!!

Difficulty: Medium. Duration: 6:30 hrs.
